Full Stack Engineer

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA / SOFTWARE ENGINEERING / FULL-TIME

Design and build the front end components, as well as the backend software that powers SimpleLegal. We enable companies to manage all their outside counsel projects, budgets, billing and much more.

Building features that make the SimpleLegal platform more robust and easier to useUnderstanding the needs of enterprise customers and how SimpleLegal can optimize their workflow

Our engineers play a key role in product development, from concept to launch, so your ideas have an impact. We push new versions of the app and API multiple times a week, so your hard work will be in users hands quick. Half of our users are logged in everyday, so your work will improve their daily work life.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a fluid start-up environment and will bring an energetic, fun and creative approach to their work.

You could be an experienced engineer or a recent graduate eager to learn and get involved at all stages of the development life-cycle.

Responsibilities

Contribute best-in-class programming skills to develop highly innovative, customer facing web products
Continually offer thought-leadership and dependable execution ability in a high-paced environment characterized by ongoing iteration and product pushes
Play a key role in product development, help shape direction of SimpleLegal feature set
Implement automated testing processes that provide continuous feedback on quality issues; find ways to break our application before public release

Requirements

Industry experience working as a Full-Stack developer (or a degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field)
Experience writing production backend code in Python (in Django or Flask), with a strong understanding of frameworks
Experience with front-end web development using HTML, CSS, and modern Javascript
Understanding of REST API development
A Strong sense for UI and UX is a huge plus
Comfortable in a small, intense and high-growth start-up environment; This doesn’t mean long hours, it means quality hours.

Our Technology Stack

Our apps are built primarily using Django + Postgres on Heroku. Our users typically interact with SimpleLegal directly through the UI but we do have an API for integrations with other legal-tech and fin-tech applications. The front-end is primarily Bootstrap with JavaScript + jQuery. We do use D3 and a couple other specialized libraries where it makes sense.
